Hunting Hobbyists

The World Of Hunting Hobbyists by James Brown

Learning the basics of safe hunting is not all that there is to it. A hunter must develop some responsibilities that come with participating in the sport. While unwritten rules make an ethical hunter, a profound understanding of sporting codes, wildlife management and game laws are as significant as handling hunting ammunitions and weapons safely.

Professional hunting groups teach and expect their members to adhere to all safety rules. Hunting hobbyists do their best to obtain hunting and marksmanship skills that assure clean sportsmanship. Hunters are also proud supporters of wildlife conservation efforts; this support in turn ensures good hunting for generations to come.

During camping, hunters are expected to keep their campsites neat and inoffensive. It is unethical to openly display their kill in their vehicle or during camp.

To a certain extent, experienced hunters know very well not to rely on their weapon's safety. To ensure paramount safety, hunters should treat all hunting guns and weapons as if they were fully loaded or ready to fire. They are expected to never climb trees, stand or jump in ditches or cross fences while carrying a loaded gun. They are neither allowed to winch a loaded gun to a stand nor to load and then carry loaded weapon until these are for actual use. Before hopping to vehicles, weapons should at all times be unloaded.

The skilled hunters always watch their muzzle so that other fellows don't have to. They are instructed to wear hunting gears in bright colors, specifically orange, so they can be clearly seen, even from afar. The gear is completed by a hat in blaze orange. According to rules, a hunter orange should be worn at around 400 square inches above the body's waistline during all deer hunting seasons. During the stand, these should be worn by a hunter at all times and never taken off even once.

Hunters are tasked to keep separately their ammunitions and guns in storage that are locked. They are directed never to shoot unless they are absolutely certain of their targets. It is also protocol for these hunters to know their weapon's range, because even a .22 rimfire of a gun can travel to over two and a half miles. Eye and ear protections are a must when hunters are on the field, shooting.

Gun action and barrels should at all times be clear of obstructions. Hunters are expected to know this by heart. Hunting gurus are also strictly asked to carry ammunition that is only intended for the hunting weapon that they are currently using. Hunters are also observed to be always carrying handguns in which their hammers are down on an unfilled chamber.

During hunting camps, hunters are assigned to buddies whom they inform on which part of the area they intend to hunt and when they are expected to return. Hunters are expected to promptly notify in case plans on an area of target changes at any given time.

Other basic rules include dressing appropriately for the weather, taking maps and compass so as not to lose track of the area, and being vigilant for other possible sources of threat. Just like any outdoor hobbyists, hunters are expected to carry flashlights with them during their walks through and throughout the hunting area.

The hunting hobby aims to inculcate, especially to the youngsters, the expertise vital to becoming a true outdoor lover. There can be no better way to enjoy this pastime that has existed for decades!

Painting

Painting By Numbers by Kenneth Scott

Many of us have at some time or the other satiated our artistic desires by coloring using the 'paint with numbers' concept. We have fond remembrances of the time spent filling up various shapes with colors. All we needed to know was the color that corresponded to a particular number and following that code we could conjure up beautiful paintings that would befit a professional artist.

As kids these paintings were available in most shops and came with a small packet of required colors. One knew the end result that one needed to get by looking at the completed picture on the box. Variations of this bundle of entertainment arrived and kids were required to just dip their brushes in plain water and run them over the page to get the desired effect of a jungle, an animal or a portrait The amazement for this magic, however, lasts for a few months before the kids grow out of it.

This concept goes a long way to the 1950's when it was not considered only child's play but was taken more seriously. People enrolled in classes to learn the art of painting by numbers and it was considered a hobby in itself. Many people redid famous paintings that had complicated set of numbers and professionally framed these pieces of art for everyone to see.

Since these pictures were so popular, many people used to earn their living by creating these number paintings. It obviously must have been a very interesting and fun filled way of making profit. It was also a good past time for those who did not have any artistic prowess but wanted to create something of their own.

Due to the training ground that these number pictures provided some of these creators moved on to become full artists in their own rights and others continued to provide people the ability to adorn their homes with personally created paintings. Paintings such as these give you the reassurance that the masterpiece that you are trying to replicate will look considerably similar to the original and not turn into a nightmare.

A negative of these number paintings was the fact that these did not allow for creativity to flow. One was restricted to painting between the lines and following a certain color code. But creative dudes changed that too by not following the codes to the 't' and putting in their individual stamp.

It is surprising that in spite of being so simplistic in nature it became a rage!

Collecting Coins

Collecting Coins With Your Kids - An Investment With Big Returns by Ryan Konecky

I remember being 10 years old and standing in my dad's den. We had saved up a little in a mutual fund for my brother and I. He asked if we wanted to keep the money in a mutual fund, or use it to invest in some coins. Being 10 years old, I didn't have to think very long. I couldn't really hold the mutual fund in my hands and admire it like I could a coin. I'm sure that my younger brother felt the same way I did. The decision was unanimous: We would begin collecting coins.

That decision turned out to be one of the best investments that either of us made. Through whatever process a 10 year-old goes through to make decisions like this, I chose to collect Franklin half dollars. I think that I had some admiration for Ben Franklin from studying him in school. The coin also had some asthetic appeal to me.

Not long after that decision was made, I got a paper route so that I could earn some extra money to pay for some of these coins. I wish I could say that I saved all of the money that I got from my paper route to feed by coin-collecting habit. A lot of money was also spent on candy and other things that a kid with money will buy. I did manage to buy quite a few Franklin half dollars to add to my collection, though. I would sit at my dad's desk in the den and go through my coin catalog to choose a specific coin that I wanted. I'd then save the money to buy it and start the process all over again. This taught me the value of a dollar and the value in setting goals.

I spent some time reading about the history of each coin that I collected. I was interested in what the designs signified and what made the rarest coins so... well, rare. It seemed incredible to hold something in my hand that was so old and had seen so much history. I often wondered who all of the people were that held that very coin in their hands. What had they spent it on? Where were they now? I learned that history actually had an impact on me and wasn't just something I read about at school.

My dad, my brother and I spent a lot of time going to coin shows, searching through catalogs, and just reading about different coins. We began looking at the change that we had in our pockets and showing each other our "finds". We spent a lot of time talking about the coins in our collection and their history.

I still have that set of Franklin half dollars as well as some of the other coins that I had collected. I'm still adding to them. I know that they've gone up in value a bit over the years, but sometimes I find myself wondering if I would have made more money if I would have stuck with the mutual fund. Then I think of all of the lessons that I learned. Lessons about money and history. Then I think of all that time I spent with my dad and my brother. All of those days spent in my dad's den talking. The Sunday afternoons driving to the nearest coin show and all of the time spent together just talking. It's then that I realize just how big the returns were from our coin collecting.

Antique Nickel

Start Your New Craze With Antique Nickel Coins by Victor Epand

Coin collection is establishing itself as a full fledged business in America. This means collection and selling of coins that would be otherwise very difficult to get. As you must know, antique coins are of different types depending upon their constituent material and age; antique nickel coins are one of them. Did you know they have their historical background connected to United States of America? If not, you should tune into this article for a while.

Antique nickel coins are also known as "the American coin" because it is considered as a unit of American currency which is equal to twentieth part of a dollar. Many new nickel coins have been designed since 1938 but they are not considered antique. As we have said earlier, antique coins are those that are not in abundance and exist only in rare quantities. There are several nickel coins that are included in the list of antiques. These are shield nickel coins that were easily available between the periods of 1865 to 1883. Then, there are liberty head nickel coins that existed from 1883 to 1910. Besides these, there are war time nickel coins which many people love to collect now. Let's know more about all these one by one.

The first shield nickel coin was designed in 1866 in America. They had an image of numeric five on them. Though there were some metallurgical problems with these coins as they had some minting errors but you can easily find large numbers of people now who want to collect them as antique nickel coins. Liberty head nickel coins had an encryption of V over them. Facts show that only 5 to 10 of these coins are present in today's world. That is why they are considered very valuable antiques. Then, there are wartime antique nickel coins. These coins are not too old in terms of their age but still they are the choice for people who want to collect war collectibles. These coins were used till around 1978, yet they are present in only small numbers.

Now, if you have just developed an interest in the collection of antique coins, nickel coins are easy and valuable to start with. From time to time, auctions are organized by the American government. Being a citizen of the U.S.A; it will be an honor to possess such antique coins that have a relation to the history of the country. If you are an internet user, it will be quite easy for you to participate in these auctions.

Ceramic Materials

Ceramic Materials And Their Uses by Victor Epand

The word Ceramics is derived from the Greek word Keramos which means potter's earth or clay. Therefore, ceramics may be considered to be material made from naturally occurring clay or earth. Scientifically, ceramics are compounds of metallic and non-metallic elements. There are also manufactured ceramic materials such as diamond, SiC and Si3N4 and so on. In modern applications, a broader definition applies to the term ceramic, that is everything that is not a metal or organic material. Ceramics are inorganic as well as non-metallic materials which have been processed or used at high temperatures. The American Ceramic society has defined ceramic products as those manufactured "by the action of heat on raw materials, most of which are of an earthy nature -- while of the constituents of these raw materials, the chemical element silicon, together with its oxide and the compounds thereof, occupies a predominant position." That branch of knowledge which deals with the expertise of manufacturing and treatment of ceramic materials is called ceramic engineering.

There are various types of ceramic products which we have classed under four distinct categories-

1. Structural - it includes roof and floor tiles, pipes and bricks.

2. White wares - they include objects like decorative, sanitary ware, table ware and wall tiles. The examples of white ware ceramics are stone ware, porcelain, bone china and earthen ware.

3. Refractories like glass and steel building crucibles, gas fire radiant and kiln linings.

4. Technical or fine ceramics. such products include tiles applied in the space shuttle program, ballistic fortification, bio-medical implants, missile nose cones, nuclear fuel uranium oxide pellets and jet engine turbine.

The various properties of ceramics are discussed below-

1. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES- they are crystalline or amorphous and are usually covalently bonded or iconic substances. Ceramic materials also show plastic deformations.

2. ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES- they are semi conductors and most of them are transitional metal oxides. However under extremely low temperatures some ceramics become superconductors.

CLASSIFICATION OF CERAMICS-

They are classified as non -crystalline and crystalline ceramics. The non-crystalline ceramics are formed from melts and are called glass ceramic. They are produced after a great range of processing whereas the crystalline ceramics do not require much doling out.

Apart from the ones discussed above, ceramics have a wide range of usage

1. It is used in making knives and ceramic knives are sharper than steel knives. Though they are brittle, their blades are more durable.

2. Ceramics like alumina and boron carbide are used as "Small Arms Protective Inserts"

3. Steel can be replaced by ceramic balls in ball bearings. Due to their hardness they have a longer lifetime. Their electrical insulating capacities are also valuable in bearings but a major drawback is their high cost.

4. Ceramic engines can be used in laboratories due to their high fuel efficiency and they do not need any cooling system. However mass production is not possible because cracks can easily develop in ceramics which may result in dangerous equipment failure.

5. Nowadays bio-ceramics are made which include synthetic bones and dental implants.

6. High tech ceramic is also employed in making watch cases.

Collectibles

Collectibles: An Introduction To A Lifelong Hobby by Daniel Wright

We all have our own, personal hobbies. As youngsters, we may collect stamps, or badges. Some people dedicate their lives to the collection of autographs or belongings of the rich and famous, whilst others collect vintage automobiles. What you decide to collect is up to you, but you definitely have the passion to collect something.

The lure of philately or other pastimes which involving amassing certain things is rarely related simply to their cost. A collector of any specific sort of thing puts a great deal of time and effort into the pursuit of his items, and truly takes enormous joy from it. It is ridiculous for anyone to assume that the wealthy alone have earned the right to be collectors.

Collecting rare objects, such as antique jewelry, is more difficult than it sounds. Collectors of such objects need to dedicate hours, searching through many jewelry stores, auction houses, and online vendors, in order to locate rare objects such as old diamonds or ruby rings.

It is difficult to express verbally about the happiness of a collector when he discovers a specific collectible after a long search. A collection can consist of numerous things such as exotic paintings, antique jewelry, coins relating to ancient period of time, famous sculptures and several other items.

Coca Cola Cans are great collectibles, as are other Coke items. Coca-Cola has been in business for many many years and is a popular beverage worldwide. Numerous people around the globe have enjoyed the company's beverages and they have become quite a collectible item. There are many Coke items such as old advertising, glasses, Christmas items, etc. that are worth collecting.

There are just as many people who love collecting Coca Cola cans as there are people who are fans of collectibles like Pepsi cans, and Pepsi hawking equipment. Other things that you could consider to be collectibles would be televisions, cigarette cases, cigar boxes, vintage coffee makers, vintage motorcycles, and gramophone records.

Direct TV Review

Direct TV Review: What Does It Offer For Sports Fans? by Harry J. Andersohn

You hear it in their commercials all the time: Direct TV offers the most comprehensive sports packaging than any other satellite TV provider. But, is it true? Let's have a look.

If you love Football, then you won't want to miss the chance to subscribe to the NFL Ticket, which offers you the most sought-after NFL games on TV. You might even be tempted to say that Direct TV built its business on the back on the NFL, and you wouldn't be off base (so to speak). Because it's exclusive to Direct TV, NFL Sunday Ticket regularly accounts for a large chunk of people who sign up for the service. I've had it for a couple years and have to admit it's great. But if football isn't your thing, what else is there?

Plenty. Is basketball your game? Then sign up for the NBA League Pass, which shows all of your favorite NBA teams in action. This is a great package for displaced fans, as is MLB Extra Innings, the equivalent of NFL Sunday Ticket but for baseball fanatics. Still not satisfied? Then check this out -- NASCAR lovers too can enjoy non stop action with the NASCAR Hotpass. There's also ESPN Game Plan, which is great if you're a fan of many sports, but not diehard enough about any one in particular to pay for the dedicated packages.

Speaking of a budget, if yours won't allow ordering any of these extra special program offerings, don't fret, the Direct TV regular sports channels still provide hundreds of hours of sporting coverage each and every week. Plus, those who enjoy more obscure and international sports can tune into a variety of sports specialties on Direct TV such as Cricket, European Soccer (obscure only to those of us here in America), horse racing, bowling, tennis and much, much more.

With programming prices starting at around $20 a month (with the most popular premium programming about $50-$65 per month), and running as much as $100 or so a month for a full load sports programming and specialty channels, there's pretty much a level that just about anyone can afford. But hey, if you want to spend a couple hundred bucks, Direct TV isn't going to turn you away. I'm sure you could find a bunch of pay-per-view movies and events to get you up to that level if you're so inclined.

Finally, I wanted to fill you in on an extra special feature found only on Direct TV: the Interactive Mix, which allows you to watch eight (yes, I said eight) separate sporting events at a time on a split screen! Now, what could be better than that? And that's a feature offered with the most basic $20 a month programming plan! Pretty cool, huh?

Now, I should point out that Dish Network also has a ton of sports programming as well, as do most digital cable packages. But both of those options lack some of the true out-of-market programming such as Sunday Ticket and Extra Innings. So, from one sports to another, I hope that helps you make a decision.

Satellite Tv to Pc

Satellite Tv to Pc by Kelly Crawford

It's 2am, and as usual I can't sleep. There's never anything on TV at this time of the night and I've watched all my DVD's a billion times over. Sound familiar? Well, luckily I can watch TV on my PC!

I'm what's known as a 'channel hopper'. I sit for hours on end at times, clicking the channel-up button repeatedly until something catches my eye. I've never been one to browse a TV guide in advance and plan my nightly viewing. Pc Satellite Tv changed all that and now I'm always in control of what I watch.

Like most people, I love TV, but I wasn't quite getting my teeth into the abundance of rubbish that comes with normal cable or satellite TV packages. The monthly subscriptions can be a touch on the heavy side, even with the most generous of service providers. And even though you're paying for a service, it's not very personal, is it? For every 4 decent channels that I like there are at least 20 that I will never ever watch.

For a one-off payment I downloaded and installed some software onto my PC, which was as simple as could be. I now have an unfathomable amount of channels that fulfill my viewing pleasure.

You get anything from sports to movies, music, kids TV and much more. All in a variety of languages from countries all over the world (which aides an awful lot when learning new tongues!). You get all this without the hassle of a satellite dish, cables, or tuning in your TV set. Not to mention that if you move house it all comes with you. No over-paid cowboy coming to your abode, a week later than expected, to "fix" the scrambled images.

Championship

Enjoy Championship Basketball With Boston Celtics Tickets by Al Terry

Boston Celtics tickets are tickets to see real championship basketball. If the NBA was royalty, then the Celtics would be the undisputed king. They have established a firm tradition of playing basketball from the winning side and bringing forth some truly legendary players.

The Celtics are based in Boston, Massachusetts and play their home games at TD Banknorth Garden. The team plays in the National Basketball Association in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. The team has 16 championships to its name, the most of any NBA franchise. They also have 25 division titles and 19 conference wins to their name.

A Big Start

The Celtics were born in 1946 and struggled a lot, trying to find a foothold in the newly formed NBA. It wasn't until Red Auerbach entered the picture that the team's fortunes turned around. The team acquired some really strong players and began to play some devastatingly strong basketball. Boston Celtics tickets became a hot commodity but the team never seemed to be able to make to the big wins.

It wasn't until 1957 that the Celtics embarked on a smoldering warpath of success that consisted of almost consecutive championship, conference and division wins until the 1970s. High sales in Boston Celtics tickets reflected the high rolling success of the team at that time. By the seventies however, the teams' fortunes dipped and the Celtics began to concentrate on rebuilding their team.

Bird And Beyond

While the team did well in the middle of the seventies, it was nothing compared to the smoking sensation the Celtics had been a few years before. Boston Celtics tickets were still going strong but fans longed to see some of that magic from the past. This magic would come in the form of Larry Bird, one of the most legendary players in the realm of basketball. Bird would help steer the Celtics to success numerous times but he wasn't alone. The team acquired a number of other talented players. In the wake of the 1985-1986 the Celtics who were considered the best in the NBA, picked up Len Bias who had tremendous potential. Unfortunately Bias took overdose of cocaine and died just two days after being drafted. Many fans believe that the Celtics never recovered from this as a string of unfortunate incidents began dogging the team after his death.

The Celtics were soon plagued with a spate of injuries and even Larry Bird was out of action. Despite a seeming stabilizing of the team's performance, the Celtics began to take a nose dive which was perpetuated with more tragedy and Bird's retirement. It wouldn't be until 2001 that the Celtics would show any sign of bouncing back into the game. They started with low expectations but managed to surprise the critics with their hard-hitting plays. Today, the Celtics have managed to reinstate themselves as one of the NBA's most elite teams and Boston Celtics tickets are a hot commodity once again.

The Celtics share some fierce rivalries with the Lakers, Pistons and the 76ers, the latter being the most volatile while the others have cooled off. Don't miss your chance to see some hot basketball action with Boston Celtics tickets- contact an authorized online ticket vendor to get your tickets now.

Love Songs

Love Songs by Cliff Richard by Panda Knuckle

Off late I've managed to find out an Album of one of my all time favorites. After several weeks of comb searching to my bachelor godown I yield eureka when my childhood asset and obsession hit on my hand. It was "Love Song" by "Cliff Richard". The time has changed, the Album cover has turned pale, but the music and its simplicity remain unchanged. To me Cliff was the king of melody and any of his number can set your mood creating a romantic aura around you. So once again I have listened to this album from beginning to end, and I dont remember how many times I had to rewind the number "Don't Talk to Him". I was having a tough time in relation and that particular number was just setting up my mood. It was as refreshing and soothing as ever. The words are eternal, when the maestro says "So just remember what I say, And trust in me while I'm away, For I'll be true, And just remember my true love, Is brighter than the moon above for only you". Each and every song is a creation of a magician.

The key aspect of this Album is, it's a great collection of songs for any occasion and any mood. Whereas the only demerit is, it does not contain the most recent Cliff love songs. This particular Album contains a great collection of Cliff Richard love songs, where some of the numbers are hard to find on many other Albums. The number "twelfth of never" is sung with such a warm feeling and on the other hand "when the girl in your arms" brings back memories of the early 60's. Whereas the biggest hit of the Album is, "we don't talk anymore" and it's sounding better than ever. The playtime is around an hour and is great for listening to on the move or even when relaxing at home after a hectic day.

The Album carries some all time greats such as Constantly, I Could Easily Fall (In Love With You), Minute You're Gone, It's All In The Game, Don't Talk To Him, Theme For A Dream, Fall In Love With You. Other numbers such as Miss You Nights, Visions, Up In The World, Carrie, A Voioce In The Wilderness, Twelfth Of Never, Day I Met Marie, Can't Take The Hurt Anymore, A Little In Love, When Two Worlds Drift Apart, Next Time, When The Girl in Your Arms Is The Girl In Your Heart, We Don't Talk Anymore has also received acclaim from fans and listeners. The variety of song selection can certainly mesmerize the listeners. From the classic slow ballads to fast moving bits, you will find everything in the pack. Just to share, my favorite track is "next time" from the film summer holiday. I can guarantee, even if you are not a die-hard Cliff Richard fan, still you will find most of the tracks to please your ears and to touch your soul in true sense.

Top 10 Oscar

Top 10 Oscar - Best Actor Predictions by Peter Brown

Which 5 leading men will be nominated in the best-actor category and which of these actors will win the coveted Oscar for Best Actor at the 80th Academy Awards on February 24th 2008? Here's the latest hotlist of the 10 most serious contenders.

Daniel Day Lewis, There Will Be Blood

Appearing in virtually every scene in his best work to date (and that's saying something) Daniel Day Lewis is brilliant, and surely an odd's on favourite for Best Actor at this year's Oscars? Daniel Day Lewis is outstanding as oil prospector Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood, a dark and compelling story of greed and brutality, were success far outweighs human compassion. There Will Be Blood is an entertaining, blockbuster of a story, driven by a blockbusting performance from Daniel Day Lewis.

Tommy Lee Jones, In The Valley of Elah

Tommy Lee Jones plays Hank Deerfield to perfection In the Valley of Elah. Jones excels as the patriotic ex-military man who now seeks answers about his son's disappearance after a tour of duty in Iraq. Despite strong military resistance Hank Deerfield will stop at nothing to uncover the truth, Tommy Lee Jones masters Deerfield's character and his military ways to the core, a hand-grenade of a performance, just wait till he explodes.

Denzel Washington, American Gangster

American Gangster is the true story of 70's Harlem drug boss Frank Lucas played by Denzel Washington. Cool businessman or cold-hearted killer, Washington is convincing as he sources heroin direct from the jungle of Southeast Asia to annihilate the competition and expand his criminal empire. A family man yet a loner Lucas is heading for an explosive collision with fellow loner, corruption investigating NYPD detective Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe). Watch the onscreen fireworks when they finally meet.

Benicio Del Toro, Things We Lost in the Fire

Bencio Del Torro plays Jerry Sunborne a recovering heroin addict to perfection in Things We Lost in the Fire. Playing alongside Halle Berry, Del Torro steals the show with a performance that will have you questioning whether he really is on drugs. You can almost feel Del Torro's pain as he sweats and pleads when trying to kick the habit.

Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd

As Sweeney Todd is the 6th film that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have made together (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride) it is only natural that they have developed a film making 'chemistry'. Perhaps the singing will go against him, but as the title role demon barber Sweeney Todd, Johnny Depp is frighteningly realistic, with Helena Bonham Carter as his pie making and singing accomplice Mrs Lovett, perhaps I will grow that beard after all!

Philip Seymour Hoffman - Before the Devil Knows Your Dead

Philip Seymour Hoffman is excellent as Andy the corporate accountant and heroin addict who has come up with the perfect crime. Perfect that is until the robbery of their parent's jewellery store goes horribly wrong. As Andy struggles to cope with the consequences and his conscience, Philip Seymour Hoffman's portrayal as a man on the brink, is enthralling.

George Clooney, Michael Clayton

George Clooney plays the eponymous Michael Clayton, a 'fixer' at a powerful New York law firm. Not being adverse to a little bribery and corruption, Michael is forced to wrestle with his own conscience when sent to rescue the case after his colleague Arthur (excellently portrayed by Tom Wilkinson) suffers an emotional breakdown. A divorcee, ex gambler with financial problems, this is a confrontational and far more challenging role than that of the supporting role as Bob Barnes for which George won his previous Oscar in Syriana. George Clooney's powerful performance may just be enough for another nomination.

Christian Bale, 3:10 to Yuma

Elmore Leonard's western short story 3:10 to Yuma stars Christian Bale as the debt burdened rancher Dan Evans offered $200 and the chance to regain respect to escort outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) to the Federal Court. A great movie and Christian Bale is excellent as the downtrodden rancher with something to prove in a psychological and physical battle against Wade.

James McAvoy, Atonement

Whilst Atonement is not my cup of tea, there's no doubting that come Oscar time it will be there in force. James McAvoy plays Robbie the working-class man falsely accused of raping an underage aristocrat. Whilst McAvoy excels as the shy, well-mannered son of a grounds-keeper I can't help feeling the role restricts the full extent of James McAvoy's talents.

Brad Pitt, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

As infamous outlaw Jesse James, Brad Pitt puts in a fantastic performance. Brad Pitt swaggers with superiority and charisma (just as I would if I was with Angelina Jolie J ) as the myth wanted for 17 murders and numerous robberies tries to live up to the ever increasing price on his head. Brad Pitt performs admirably but put your money on Casey Affleck for best supporting actor as he steals the show as the tormented soul Robert Ford.

Reality Tv Stars

Reality Tv Stars - What Happens When The Show Ends? by Yihang Huang

Reality TV is more than just a passing craze. After the first episodes of Survivor in 2000, it was pretty clear that reality TV is here to stay. Sometimes, going on a reality show propels contestants to success, even if they don't win their show. Elisabeth Hasselbeck went from Survivor to hosting The View and Jennifer Hudson lost American Idol but won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls. But not everyone is equipped to handle their newfound stardom.

Loss of Privacy

Going on a reality TV show propels contestants into the spotlight. Many people feel like they know the contestants on a reality show, even though they have never met. It's pretty easy to understand this phenomenon - you are welcoming these people into your home each week, and they way that most reality shows are shot make it seem like contestants are speaking directly to you. But when contestants go home, many of them are unable to return to their normal lives. Contestants are often stopped in the course of their day to day activities, sometimes for an autograph or picture, other times to be told just what they thought of their game play. It's hard for most contestants to have this lack of anonymity, especially those who felt that they weren't portrayed favorably on their show.

Family and Relationships

Going on a reality TV show can have an unexpected impact on the family and relationships of contestants. Some family members of contestants have reported that they have been approached by fans, usually to complain about the actions of their son or daughter. A reality show can also put an enormous amount of strain on a relationship. Most reality TV shows are shot over the course of several months, during which contestants are isolated from family and friends. That, in itself, can be difficult for a relationship. But sometimes the most stressful part is the action of the contestants on the show. There have been instances where a contestant has cheated on their significant other while on a show, and others who were simply horrified at how their partner played the game.

Jobs

There have been many contestants whose jobs have been impacted by going on a reality TV show. A show like The Apprentice may highlight reasons to hire someone. But when you are shown on a show as lying and cheating, employers notice and are not as quick to hire you. Many times contestants on reality TV shows list "model" or "bartender" as their occupation, as they are professions most able to take 2-3 months off of work without being asked questions. But contestants who are lawyers or doctors find it hard to go back to their practices; many lawyers are no longer actively practicing law.

There haven't been many studies done on the long-term impact of being on a reality TV show. But the articles that have been written show most need continued support from a mental health professional. And for most part, this is not a consequence that any of them consider.

Learn Wedding Photography

Learn Wedding Photography – Showing Your Sample Albums by Tom Jackson

In this article, I will be covering the basics of showing your work to potential customers. This is commonly referred to as

below the line advertising, or advertising that you are not paying for. It is obviously important to have sample images

available to show prospects, because this is how you will get business. And with wedding photography, you can make a great

part time or full time career depending on your desires.

But in this day and age of technology, there is another way to show your images. One that will allow you to have you album

with you at all times. The color and clarity of the images on these devices is outstanding. One that allows your potential

client to see your work in glorious detail. I am referring to portable devices with high resolution color LCD screens.

Apple's iPhone or iPod touch are just two examples that provide the ideal platform for this purpose. The term iPhone in this

article refers to both devices. The beauty of this device, is that in most cases, you need to have a cell phone with you so

you can make and receive calls, especially from clients or prospective clients. But at any time, you can show images to

people you meet. With the iPhone, you can create any number of digital albums to suit your needs. You can have an album of

wedding images, or you can split wedding photos into multiple albums, and create albums of themes. For instance, a series of

brides in outdoor locations. Or sunsets, at the church etc. The iPhone is very flexible, and you can set it up in so many

different ways.

You can also have a number of albums that show off images that you take for your own enjoyment. Such as portraits, family

groups or even landscapes. Again, having all these albums on one device, means that you can tailor a presentation to just

about anyone you meet, for almost any occasion.

And do not forget, you can use it to promote yourself as a product or advertising photographer. Whenever you meet people, if

they are in business for themselves, you may have an opportunity to promote your services for their business. They may need

some shots of their building for a promotion, or the products they sell for advertising, or for marketing materials, such as

flyers or postcards.

With a device such as the iPhone, you will always be ready to promote yourself and your services. Even if you have a website

with your images, you may not always be near a computer with an internet connection. And sometimes, you may not be able to

access your website from some computers, especially in corporate settings, where many sites are blocked if it is not within

the corporate web intranet. And although you can always access the web with your iPhone wherever you are, it is always easier

to use the iPhone to display your images, quickly and easily.

These devices are extremely versatile and will allow you to take advantage of many of the other features they provide. You

will always be in touch because your email service is just like being on your computer, so you can read and reply to your

emails anytime. Whenever you need to send a quote, it is very easy with this device. If you need to check your calendar for

upcoming appointments or events, you can easily check these items. You may even come across an interesting location for

photography, and so you can take a photo and place it into your database, always able to refer back to the location at any

time. As well, as being able to show the location to a prospective client as a potential place for photos on the important

day. You will also have your contact database, so you can make a call to your prospective clients and follow up on any

questions they may have. In short, you will always be ready for any situation.

And lastly, but not always, least, you can play a game or two when you are waiting or perhaps enjoying a coffee at your

favorite café. And if you have not looked at some of the games and other applications available for the iPhone and iPod

touch, you will be amazed at the variety of applications available, starting from free to ten dollars. But, I digress. Never

let it be said that I would encourage your use of these devices for anything other than serious business (yeah, right)!

Searching for used car parts

Searching for used car parts? by Robin Fulham

People just do not bother and most of the times they are over confident. They never bother to pay a though about their cars

and only when their car lands in some problems do they start scratching their heads in trying to search for spare parts.

There is no need to worry if you are one of them, rather there is not need for any car owner to worry as far as reliable and

genuine parts for their cars are concerned. There are certain sites on the net that help you to find out and purchase used

parts for your car.

Most of them sell products, which are guaranteed to last a certain period of time and what is more are, the prices that you

get them for. These sites give you access to hundreds of used and reconditioned parts for every make of car imaginable. Most

of them have an online calculator on their websites which can be used to input details about the make of your car and the

type of spare that you are searching for.

They use secure sites that ensures that your credit card information, used for paying for your purchases, are kept away from

the eyes of hackers. Most of these sites are linked to part suppliers all over America and as soon as you submit your

request, the same is forwarded to all the suppliers. With the help of these sites the time you spend in searching for

individual spare parts for your car is over and you can hunt for all these spares from just one single and easy to use

website.

Most people dump their used cars in the wrecking yards and there are agencies that specialize in checking out these carts and

salvaging re-usable parts from them. These parts are categorized and indexed according to type, make and warrantee period.

Once this categorization is done, the information is linked with these websites. Once you fill in the details of the parts

you require, these details will be sent to various agencies and within a short span of time they will be contacting with the

information you require via phone or via email.

You can select the quote that suits you best and then proceed ahead to arrange the parts to be delivered at your doorstep.

These are the simple steps you need to get the parts at your doorstep. Log on to their website and enter all details about

your car using their secure site. Once that has been done, enter the details of the used car parts that you are searching

for. Finally enter your contact details including your telephone number, street address and your email id.

This is all that you need to do. Within a few hours you will be astonished as you start receiving quotes after quotes. Select

the one whose quote s the best and within a few hours the part that you have been on the lookout for will be delivered to

your place. Hunting for car parts has never been so easy.

Car

Five Things You Must Keep In Your Car by Patrick Omari

When you reach the age where you begin driving lessons, you learn how to drive the car, the highway code and rules of the

road, and you may even learn how to change a tyre or replace the bulbs. Some people learn a lot more and these are well

prepared for any eventuality that may occur while they are out on the road.

Driving is a learning experience. It doesn't matter how long you have been driving or how many times you have broken down,

crashed or been pulled over by the police - you will always be more prepared the next time. Every time something goes wrong

with your car, you will be prepared if the same thing ever happens again. Experience teaches you to be prepared.

There are many items that are recommended for you to keep in the boot or glove-box of your car. Your driving instructor may

chat to you during your lessons, giving little hints and tips that they have picked up in their years of experience. Also, if

your father is an experienced driver, he will often give you advice about the common problems that motorists face and so will

help you avoid falling victim to these preventable obstacles.

An inexperienced driver may not know what to do if their car broke down, especially in a quiet road or where few cars will

pass. Nearly everybody now will have a mobile phone so this will not make the Top Five List. However, ensure you have an

in-car charger and that your phone is able to make calls in case of such a problem.

With a mobile phone, you are able to contact the right people to ensure that if you are stuck somewhere, they will come and

get you or will send a recovery service to ensure you aren't stranded. However, recovery services can take a long time to

find you, so always take a blanket with you in the boot of your car. This can be used for sitting on, if the ground is wet,

or to keep you warm while you wait to be recovered.

Another key item that will prove invaluable in this situation is a battery-powered torch. Stranded in the dark is not a

pleasant experience, so packing a torch will make it more bearable and will help you with any minor repairs. Changing a tyre

can be a tricky business in the dark, so always keep a charged torch in the car.

If you drive to work, family occasions or any event where you are expected to maintain a set dress-code or appearance, ensure

that your glove box has either tissues or an even better choice - wet wipes. Wet wipes or baby wipes are a fantastic addition

to your holiday luggage, so why not keep them handy for road trips and car journeys away from home.

So many car problems that you may face will involve lifting the bonnet, handling parts or touching the exterior of your car.

As all car-owners know, the outside of your car will become extremely dirty in a short space of time. Handling tyres,

dipsticks, wiper blades and even your petrol cap can result in your hands being covered in dirt, oil and general grime.

The use of plastic gloves when refilling your tank is a great start, but carrying a pack of wipes will enable you to feel

fresh instantly and prevent the transfer of filth onto your clothes. When you are well-presented for an important meeting, it

would be infuriating to find an oil smear on your ice-white shirt. Wipes can also be used by families with children that have

sticky fingers after food, clean hands will mean clean seats and upholstery.

Anyone who has been in a car when it overheats will understand the importance of the next item on the list. A two-litre

bottle of water. This is not the emergency drinking water that you may take if you were driving across a desert or the

Australian outback, but water for more practical purposes.

Recently, while driving along the motorway, I came to a long section of roadworks with a plethora of heavy machinery and

small army of workers. As i continued through the roadwork populous, my windscreen became opaque with dirt and dust. I

anxiously clutched at the magic wand of windscreen wash, alas, it was empty. I vainly attempted to move the dirt with my dry

wiper blades, only to make matters worse. More by luck than judgment, I made it to the next junction where I filled up with

the free water at the service station. And i survived.

This is a serious issue and can grossly affect your visibility and therefore your ability to drive. The benefit of a bottle

of water vastly outweighs the slight annoyance of it sometimes rolling about while you drive, causing a strange noise that

makes you think there is a small animal burrowing into your back seat. The other benefit for the water, aside from filling

the windscreen wash, can be gained if you use it to fill your radiator to avoid your car overheating, as mentioned earlier.

The fifth and final item that you must always keep in your car, is another one that you should attempt to have on your person

at all times. As with a mobile phone, this item maybe shouldn't make the list as most people carry this wherever they go.

However, I am going to suggest that you must always have money, currency or cold-hard cash in your car.

To carry cash in your car is not going to encourage someone to break into it, unless you display it blatantly or if it is a

big wad of hundreds of pounds in notes. By cash, I am suggesting that you ensure you always have a few pounds of coins and

change in your car at any one time. These coins will be extremely useful at various times, mainly when you need to pay for a

parking space or if your route requires you to pay a toll.

Coins can fit into various small compartments in your car, so ensure that you stock up and always have a minimum amount that

you will never go below. Car parks can be expensive and rarely accept credit card payments, so these coins could save you a

lot of money in fines and parking tickets.

Tolls are rare in the UK, but will be found more regularly, when you travel for greater distances. Be prepared for this and

fill your car's ashtray with some pound coins and fifty pence pieces, and you will avoid that awkward, uncomfortable

realisation when you reach into your pocket only to feel your sweaty thigh.

So, to summarise, ensure your car is equipped for most emergencies that you may face. This advice is just a starting point,

and the more experienced that you become as a driver, the more items will be added to your list. As you finish reading, go

get your blanket, torch (with batteries of course), bottle of water, wet wipes and coins and put them in your car. You never

know when you might need them, but if you haven't got them in there you will regret it at some point.

Check Out the Wide Range of Custom Covers

Check Out the Wide Range of Custom Covers by Tim Berry

Buick car covers and seat covers are designed to cover your car and keep out your car from common damages like dust, mud

etc. CarCovers4Auto gives a very good look to your buick and customized design that best fit to your buick.
As one of the prime race horses that come galloping out of the celebrated General Motors Stable, the Buick is perhaps the

champion of champions that have created legend in luxury for more than a couple of decades. In terms of looks and likes;

coupled with power and performance, few American cars can outmaneuver the Buick. But the contemporary Buick has suffered the

same fate as other marque of current sedans, convertibles and SUVs. Its wide-angled, larger than life, super slanted

windscreens, while offering the occupants panoramic view of the outer world, has also induced intense sunrays into the lush

interior of the vehicle in no uncertain manner. The burst of sunlight on the leather upholstery and the fine tufted

floorboard carpet works overtime in affecting the lifespan of these luxury items, while every passing sun-filled day drains

out the oily substance in the Buick’s comfortable leather seats, turning them lifeless in no time at all. Besides, there are

dirt and dust, rain and sleet and many other natural and man-made modes of destruction that continually work at spoiling the

beauty of the dazzling car. Even the birds do not spare the Buick from their acidic droppings that simply refuse to go

however hard you may try to get rid of them.

When General Motors had created Buick marque of luxury vehicles, they had made sure that the vehicle’s seats should provide

best comfort to the occupants. However, they had probably underestimated their customers’ predicament when vehicle use rose

to appreciable heights. In other words, while the Buick’s engine and suspension remained beyond suspicion, its seat covers

showed signs of decay, needing replacement or additional protection. Coverking, the legendary southern California based car

covers and seat covers, however, had risen to the occasion by producing Custom seat covers for Buick that are exact replicas

of those made by GM
Custom car covers that are marketed by Covers4auto stand out from the lot by the virtue of their effectiveness against the

external hazards, their unique fit and features, and the optimum quality material used in their production. Coverking serve

in all the seasons, be it the heat of the Sahara, the cold and snow of the Antarctica, or the monsoons of Africa! Car covers

that Covers4auto offers prevent people from having a look into the interior of the cars, prevent fading of the color, reduce

the number of washes required, and are perfect for the cars parked near airports and industrial sites as they keep the

interiors cool. Some Covers4auto car covers also guard against scratches, nicks and minor hail damage

Planning A Baby Shower

Planning A Baby Shower - Stress Free Success

Do you need help putting together a baby shower?

Because you're about to learn how to put together a successful party the expectant mom will remember fondly for years to

come.

A successful baby shower is easier to put together than you might think. Really?

The secret to your success is -- all in planning a baby shower.

Waiting until the last minute is a recipe for disaster and is almost guaranteed to stress you out, give you sleepless nights

and countless days in the panic mode. Not a pretty picture.

When to start

Since most baby showers take place a couple of months prior to the babies due date, you need to start planning things about

four months before the babies due date. That will give you about two months to put everything together and send out

invitations early enough to give everyone time to put your party on their calendar.

What to do first

The very first thing you should do is to just sit down with the expectant mom and find out what kind of party she'd like. Ask

her if she'd like a theme and if so what? What kind of cake does she like, who does she want to invite, women only or are you

going to invite the guys too? And what kind of baby things does she need? And if she knows the gender of the baby, have they

chosen a name?

Now that you know what the expectant mom would like, you have enough information to plan a wonderful party.

Decide on a theme

Planning a baby shower gets a whole lot easier once you've decided on a theme.

Does mom have a theme in mind? If not, the sky is the limit. You can get very creative here. Prepackaged themes include

everything from "Rubber Ducky" to "Baby Einstein" and everything in-between. Winnie the Pooh, Noah's Ark, Rainbow, Animals

and the list goes on.

Once you know the theme, you'll know what kind of invitations to send out, what kind of cake to put together, decorations,

party supplies and games to look for.

Invitation wording

What's the reason for sending out invitations to any event?

It's not a silly question, or even a trick question.

The reason you send out invitations is to get people to show up. Because without invited guests your baby shower would be

much more than a dissapointment for your expectant mom.

So you want your invitations to let everyone know that you're planning a baby shower they won't want to miss.

Be sure to include all the important information like the date, time and location. Also include the full name of the

mom-to-be, and if you know it, the gender and name of the baby. This will help your guests when it comes to buying baby gifts

and other things.

Play up your theme. If your theme is "Rubber Ducky" you might want to pick up some cute little rubber duck thingies to

include in the invitation. You can start off by stating "Rubber Ducky says you're the one... and you are! You're invited to

attend our Rubber Ducky baby shower for... "Everything is going to be lots of Ducky fun."

Of course if you aren't feeling creative you can play it safe and pick up some preprinted invitations. I strongly recommend

picking up your invitations, decorations, and party supplies online. It's convenient (no driving all over town only to

discover they don't have what you need) the selection is wonderful and your choices will be shipped directly to you. It

doesn't get any more stress-free than that.

Your baby shower cake

Oh the yummy thoughts!

Everybody loves a colorful tasty cake. And when planning a baby shower you want to make sure the cake is special.

Now before you panic, you'll be very happy to learn that you do not have to bake a cake from scratch.

Just visit your favorite bakery and pick up a delicious, prefrosted cake (make sure it's the kind our expectant mom likes)

and have the baker write something appropriate on it. But we're not through yet.

You can easily make this cake very memorable by picking up a theme appropriate cake topper. Just visit that online party

store. You can even find edible cake art images. Now all you need to do is place the edible cake art and the topper on your

cake and -- instant 3-D masterpiece.

I told you it would be easy! And don't forget to take lots of pictures of your cake.

Diaper cake

In case you haven't heard a diaper cake isn't a cake at all (but it sure can look like one). A diaper cake is a very creative

"cake" made up of things like diapers, blankets, baby pens, rattles, bibs and just about anything else you can think of.

Diaper cakes aren't there to replace your yummy cake, but a diaper cake is really a wonderful addition to any baby shower.

Decorations for a fun party location

Get decorations to match your theme. Banners, streamers, posters, standees (a stork). Keep it fun, keep it colorful and don't

be afraid to be creative.

Baby shower games

You can find lots of fun printable games online. From baby word scrambles to baby bingo. These games are very popular and

easy to play. You should plan 3 or 4 games. You don't want to wear everybody out -- especially our mommy.

Food to nibble on

Keep it simple - finger foods are best. How about a healthy veggie tray, finger sandwiches, fruit bits, party mix, chips and

anything else mommy might like.

Use paper plates and you won't have a big clean-up.

Now pick up a fun guest book, some disposable cameras for the guests and you're all set.

Planning a baby shower well in advance makes all the difference.

You won't get all stressed out and by shopping online you don't even have to drive all over town.

Your mommy-to-be is going to love her shower, your invited guests will have a great time and everyone will be thanking you.

Now you've learned all the secrets to planning a baby shower that's going to be a big success. And all without stress,

without a single sleepless night, or an "oh-no, I forgot ---"

Instead, you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the party.

Planning a baby shower will make you a super star.

Have fun

Bad Things Happen To Good People

When Bad Things Happen To Good People

Bad things do happen to good people. Each of us experiences situations where we feel robbed, slandered, mis-understood,

cheated, or simply jerked around in life. The end result may be the loss of a job, a friend, a love interest, a business

deal, or the creation of a rift between family members. The pain we feel is very real, very deep, and very private. Often

it's impossible for people around us to understand the scope, or the depth of the pain we carry as a result of the emotional

wounding we’ve experienced. What then, do we do when life really hurts?

There are varying degrees of pain we often feel in response to situations inflicted upon us by other people. Some levels of

pain are small, and we have the ability to let the situation roll off our back, letting us carry on in life as if nothing

happened. For some, there are situations where the wound is so deep, we find ourselves crippled by it, not knowing how to get

out from under the pain and the hurt that results. It’s in the midst of surrounding, choking pain that many people bog down

in knowing what to do, or how to cope.

Through the course of my own painful experiences, I have learned and identified key factors that help us deal with life’s

pain. Other people's list may include additional points or comments, but I believe there are a small few handful of steps we

must all take in dealing with life's hurts.

First. Privately admit to yourselves, you've been hurt! Own it. Embrace it. Everytime we lose something of value in life, we

will enter a grieving process. Recognize this and be honest about it. It’s important to start at a place of honesty,

recognizing your pain for what it is, a grieving process. This process may seem so insignificant, but for many there is

tremendous difficulty in admitting, " I am feeling really hurt by this situation, and as a result, I've lost something very

precious to me."

Secondly, (and this step in the process, is no where near as easy as it sounds for it often goes against our human nature) we

need to forgive our offender. Understand, that by forgiving our offender, we are not letting him or her off the hook as far

as consequences are concerned. By forgiving, we’re letting our self off the hook. We're giving up any motivation or thought

of revenge. When a person refuses to forgive, they choose to carry the pain, the anger, the bitterness, of the situation

around with them every minute of the day and night. To a person who doesn't forgive, the situation becomes an emotional wound

that festers with compounding or secondary emotional infection. Until we forgive our offender, our offender ends up owning

our emotions.

(Many people have a poor understanding of what forgiveness is. For those who find themselves in this position, a simple

internet search under the heading "Understanding Forgiveness" will produce many good articles and aides on this subject.)

The third step in the process of responding to life’s deep hurt’s is to find a "safe friend" and share your pain with them.

We all have friends in our lives, but what is meant by the term "safe friend"? "Safe friends" are friends who listen to you,

are empathetic with you, can advise you honestly, but the most important quality in a "safe friend", is the person’s ability

to respect and maintain confidentiality. Not all friends are "safe friends". "Safe friends" are often few and far between.

"Safe friends" can be a current friend, a counselor, a priest, a therapist, a law enforcement officer, a lawyer, someone

who’s been through a similar situation, or a person recommended to you by a friend because your friend feels they simply

can’t help you, but know of a person who can.

Fourth, at some point in our healing process, we need to decide to carry on in life. If we don’t carry on in life, then we’re

choosing to let our offender win, and we’re choosing to be our offender’s victim. While this can be difficult to hear when

we’re in the depths of a painful experience, being a "victim" is a choice, it’s a mental state, and it can be terribly

crippling. For those caught in a victim mentality, it's important to understand, they are in the position of strength, for

they can choose to no longer be a victim by removing themselves from the conflict. If you feel you are being hurt by a

person, and you find a healthy way to remove yourself from that situation, then that person has no more emotional power over

you.

Often when people struggle with life’s hurts and pains, little thoughts of revenge enter into their minds. In the heat of the

moment, many arguements can be made to seemingly justify getting back at a person, but is it the right decision. Acts of

revenge are never considered a consequence. Revenge is one type of offence being exchanged for another. People who harbor

desires for revenge are people who struggle with the aspect of forgiveness.

Recently, while in a conversation with a close friend, our conversation took on a more serious note. She began to share with

me her critical situation of a serious internal family conflict between her and her brother. The situation had become so

difficult my friend was considering buying a gun to use against her abusive drug addicted sibling, if necessary. Her hurt was

real, as was the pain caused her, but the use of a gun is not a solution, for the act of pulling the trigger and ending the

life of her brother would haunt her in years to come at every family reunion, family wedding, family birthday, or family

holiday. Her drug addicted brother would end up owning her emotions from his grave. There are many people in serious

situation like my close friend, and it's for this reason I share her story. In this particular case, and as I advised her, my

friend's solution lay in forgiveness, then seeking out a local "safe friend" in the law enforcement or legal community who

could help her establish safe legal boundaries with this sibling, until he gained control of himself, and his social

behaviors. For my friend, her boundaries might take on the form of having her extended family join her in introducing to the

brother a drug rehabilitation intervention, perhaps it'll take a restraining order, or perhaps lifting him totally out of his

environment cutting him off from his drug source by giving him jail time. This may sound extreme for a family member to do,

but remember this line, if you remember no other..."Better alive in a cell, than dead on the street!" The establishing of

proper healthy boundaries is always a healthy life direction, and a good way for people to remove themselves from the role of

a victim.

When life really hurts, there are positive solutions that empower us to live life to the fullest in spite of our wounding. We

may have to change friends, and distance ourselves from wreckless and immature associations, but we can bounce back, we can

smile again, we can laugh, and we can rise above our circumstance. The choice is always ours.

Have fun

How to prepare a resume to work

How to prepare a resume to work abroad by Richard Penfold

Your CV / Resume for Working Abroad

You have had enough that's it. You've decided to emigrate leave your old life behind and start again. You've picked the

country you want to move to know what visas/ work permits you need and now it's time to start looking for that all important

job.

Where do you start? First thing is to look at your CV/ resume. Why? Different countries have different standards. Some like

factual CV /resumes others like will like a sales document.

Let me explain, if you wanted a job in Germany for instance you must include a photograph (remember to put your details on

the back of the picture).

You present your Resume / CV in a binder and include copies of all your education certificates and any references from former

employers. They are not interested in your personal hobbies, but applicants should include their parents' details and

occupations.

Resumes / CVs follow a strict chronological order starting with employment details and ending with education.

Your Resume / CV should be signed below on the right, next to the place and date in the left-hand corner.

However in Australia they would be interested in your personal interests, especially if you were a president of a club or a

football captain etc.

In France they are also very interested in your personal interests but unlike Australia you must include a handwritten cover

letter with your CV/ Resume (the only exceptions are to be found in some parts of the IT sector). In Japan you would need to

fill out a Rirekisho. A Rirekisho is more a personal profile than a way to show your talents. Japanese companies would not

want a sales CV/ Resume they want someone that shows them they are a team player.

Want to work in the UK then your CV/Resume must show what you have achieved you must sell yourself to the employer. Give

highlights of your achievements not a complete detailed account of every task.

However if you where applying for a job in Russia your CV/ Resume would need to be hand-written and extremely detailed. You

would not be able to put in bullet points, you would have to write full sentences and explain everything that you had done.

In New Zealand your CV/ Resume would be less structured with no set format and can be up to 3 pages.

Leave out Age, gender, marital status, ethnicity or health.

They also like plain looking document so only use a basic font such as Times New Roman, Garamond or Arial.

Whatever country you are thinking about emigrating to, please remember some basic advice.

Always include your telephone number with the international dialling code and up to date Email address.

Another very important thing to remember is time zones. It would be a very good idea to check how far forward or back there

times are and make a suggestion when the best time to ring would be, otherwise you may get a call at 3o'clock in the morning

and you might not sound your best.

Hope you found this information useful and good luck with your new life.

Top 3 Career Tips

Top 3 Career Tips for Todays Job Seekers by Jeff

Choosing a career will be perhaps the most important decision of your life -- whoops, no pressure! -- the fact of the matter

is that when it comes to choosing a career most people make their decisions based upon inclinations they have had ever since

they were kids, if during her childhood you pretended to be a firefighter who will most likely try to pursue a dream, same

goes for those who choose to be doctors, architects, astronauts, etc.

Today we're going to give you five important tips that you should use when choosing the best career according to your

interests:

-- Make Sure the Carrier You Choose Is Marketable

A big mistake people make at the time of choosing a career path is that they go for something they like without thinking

whether or not the field they have just chosen is marketable. The fact that you like a certain carrier is no guarantee that

it will generate enough income for you to live of. Make sure you research the job opportunities your carrier offers before

you make that important position because wasting several years just to find out if you will not be able to survive if you

continue to pursue the career you have chosen is very tough to swallow.

-- Develop Your People Skills

Let's face it, you will not find a job that does not involve human interaction; even if you decide to work with computers (or

animals at a farm) you will still have to deal with people whether you like it or not. This being a fact you need to develop

good communication and people skills in order to create more opportunities for yourself. Remember that employers will not

hire a person they do not feel comfortable with, so make yourself friendly and available.

-- Develop Your Skills and Learn How to Listen

Once you have landed a position you like don't ever think you have reached the pinnacle of your carrier, try to make new

goals in order to keep improving yourself because if you stand still you will soon realize that there are many more

candidates available to fill your position and if you do not improve your skills you're very likely to find yourself in a

very odd situation. Likewise, learning to listen and understand the things you're being told goes a long way, remember that

listening requires a lot more than just paying attention, you need to get the message people are trying to convey; this can

be quite hard because adults do not communicate their wants and needs like kids do, they will often say one thing but they

mean another, learning how to read through the lines will really help you get ahead in life.

Create a Resume

Create a Resume That Comes Alive by Lou Clark

More often than not, resumes are your first introduction to an organization - giving them the responsibility of persuading

the reader to want more. It is common for individuals to agonize over writing a resume and more often than not the finished

product looks more like a career obituary or personal statement than a first class ticket to your dream job. A resume is an

advert, an advert that introduces an individual, their career achievements to date and predicts how they will perform in

their next role.

With only one resume out of every 200 leading to an interview, it is important to ensure that yours is the one that gets

noticed. There are a number of key tips to writing a resume that will come alive in the readers' hand, read on to find out

more.

Step 1 - Research

Before starting to write your resume you need to do some preliminary research so you can tailor it to the jobs that you wish

to apply for. Writing a broad resume can exclude you from specific positions that you apply for.

o What do I want to do? Research job specifications, websites, industry press.

o What makes me the best candidate for any job? Research job specifications, websites and industry press to discover the

types of candidate's organizations are looking for. Use this research and speak to people within the industry to draw up a

list of your skills, characteristics and experience that makes you the best candidate for any job.

o Select the jobs that you would like to apply for

Step 2 - Write your primary job objective (this gives the reader incentive to read on)

An XX position in an organization where YY and ZZ would be required.

Step 3 - Write your summary

Using the research and brainstorming create a summary that articulately matches your skills and experience to the job

requirements.

o A short phrase describing your profession o A statement of broad or specialized expertise o Use 2/3 additional statements o

Breadth & depth of skills o Unique mix of skills o Special or well documented accomplishment o Awards, promotions or superior

performance o 1 or 2 professional or appropriate personal characteristics o Add in the sentence you created in Step 2

E.g. Solution focused and driven human resources executive with eight years experience in strategic management and large

scale recruitment projects. The national lead for retention policies within a large healthcare provider that has lead to a

15% reduction in turnover among nurses nationwide. Seeking a senior HR management role that offers extensive project work.

Step 4 Resume Format

Now you have your job objective and summary, choose what format of resume best suits your type of job search. There are 3

main types of resumes:

Chronological - This is the most common. It is a chronological listing of your work experience with the most recent first. It

is best for:

o People who have practical work experience without long periods of unemployment and minimal job / industry changes.

o Individuals who have shown growth within a single professions

Functional - This resume format focuses on skills, credentials and accomplishments. It highlights what the strengths are

rather than when / where they were developed. The main formatting difference is that after the job summary / objective you

list your professional or business skills and successes, followed by a list of the positions held. It is best for individuals

who:

o Have lots of job experience and many jobs o Are just entering the work force with no / little track record o Are just

pre-retirement and have lots of work experience o Are returning after a period of absence (return after maternity/paternity

leave or long term sickness) o Are changing careers / do not have consistent career growth o Are Military personnel seeking

civilian jobs

Combination - This resume format is a combination of the chronological and functional types. It is best for individuals who:

o Are advancing in the prospective careers and have an established track record they want to keep.

Step 5 Success Stories

Whatever format you choose you still want to include between 2-5 professional success stories for each role you have had. A

useful method to help you create a strong resume is the mnemonic is CARS. For each job held think of Challenges you faced,

Actions you took, Results or outcomes and finally Skills / Strengths that this showed you have. Using this story to create a

sentence that speaks to how successful you were at your previous role. Remember to refer back to the words used and

requirements detailed in the job description and use them where necessary so your resume is tailored to the hiring manager's

specific requirements.

E.g.

C - We needed to recruit 10 nurses before the opening of a new hospital ward in 4 wks time

A - Worked with team to create a shorter recruitment turnaround time, created a Team Leader specific to the project and

negotiated the buy in of senior managers to sign off new recruits.

R - Recruited and trained all 10 within the 3 weeks, reducing the predicted $500k agency spend.

S - Negotiation, team leadership, meet deadlines, motivation, intuition and creative problem solving.

Resume - Successfully managed a team that recruited 10 nurses, expedited their training and start date in order to meet a 1

month deadline, saving the hospital a predicted $500k in agency spend.

Step 6 Education & Publications

Enter in reverse chronological order after your work experience and accomplishments.

The only time you put education directly under the summary would be:

o Recently graduated

Goals

Thinking About Your Goals As a Nurse by ROBYN KNAPP

As the student nurse approaches graduation, thoughts of beginning a career in nursing come to mind. A new nurse should think

very seriously about their career goals. These include long term as well as short term goals. As with any path of life that

an individual takes, it is not random. Each person that seeks an education does so with a set of plans and directionality for

their immediate goals and long term. The idea of graduating from a nursing program once again dictates to the graduate that

plans once again must be laid for the road ahead. Nothing worthwhile doing is done haphazardly. All things require

preparation. Even as one contemplated going into the nursing field, certain pre-requisites had to be completed before hand.

Graduating from a nursing program is another transition phase that must be approached with the same dedication and planning

as was first applied. The short synopsis below is a sample of a career goal paper. Everyone will have their own unique career

goal paper. Now is a good time to start thinking about career goals.

INTRODUCTION:

The field of nursing attracted me for several reasons. The first reason being, that a nurse is the front line person in

caring for others and saving lives. The nurse will in many cases such as in the hospital or homecare environment discover the

patient who needs emergency attention before the physician. It will be up to the nurse to respond accordingly within the

scope of their practice and hospital procedures. Why does this facet of nursing attract me? Well, it is because that this

type of responsibility is not too far off from the type of responsibility that a physician has, which is what I had hoped to

become many years ago. Nurses did not have that crucial level of responsibility initially. Because of this, many patients

died. For instance, a nurse from the past may not have known the therapeutic values of electrolytes and blood gases thereby

putting the patient's health in jeopardy. Now, in present times, the nurse must know all of the pertinent lab values and act

upon any change immediately, either by calling the physician or implementing standing orders.

The other aspect of nursing that is also attractive to me in becoming a nurse, is that the nurse uses therapeutic

communication and treats the patient's response to real or perceived illness. This is the corner stone of which nursing is

based on. The holistic approach is so successful in helping patients to heal. I am a firm believer that for an individual to

be able to heal from without, they must first heal from within. Therefore the nurse can help clients to adapt and grow in a

positive way rather than negative. Since all of nursing is now based on evidenced practice, it is exciting to be able to put

the scientific method to use. There are now logical and provable reasons that a nurse should take a particular course of

action.

These are just some of the reasons which have attracted me to the profession of nursing.

SHORT-TERM CAREER GOALS:

My short-term career goals consist of successfully passing Nursing 255, then passing the national board exam. Once this is

accomplished, I hope to be work on a medical-surgical floor and hone my skills as a graduate nurse. I have chosen

medical-surgical nursing as a starting point because this particular field will help me to develop my clinical skills.

LONG-TERM CAREER GOALS:

I hope to be an active member in the profession of nursing, joining the American Nurses Association, attending seminars and

lobbying for the advancement of nurses to prescribe medication independently. Hopefully within the next five years or so I

will have a degree as an advanced practice nurse in the field of family healthcare and be working in an emergency room.

PERSONAL GOALS

My personal goals are humble. Money has never been a goal, rather doing that which enriches the soul. I am thankful to my

Lord that I have been given the opportunity to have made it thus far. I take care of my mother and help my family as best I

can. I am happiest when I am helping others, and owe a large debt of gratitude to my instructors, who have given of

themselves their wealth of knowledge and experience to help produce competent nurses. I hope to make them proud.
